Translation Request 1869 Hungary Census
Hi, could someone help me with this Census translation? I believe I know some of it, (The dates listed are their birth year?), but I can't figure out the Occupation and birthplaces.
Is there a way to tell if people on the same page with different surnames are related?
Are there records that can help me find their birth/marriage records?
Thank you :)

This page is filled out in Czech or Slovak, which unfortunately I can't help with, but I can tell you the column headers:
0 Consecutive residence number
1 Consecutive resident number
2 Resident's surname and given name, title, and rank
3 Gender (male, female)
4 Birth year
5 Religion
6 Marital status
7 Profession or ...
8 ... Mode of occupation
9 Birthplace
10 Residency (local, foreign)
11 Presence (temporary [less than one month], extended [over one month])
12 Absence (temporary [less than one month], extended [over one month])
13 For locals: Literacy (can read, can write)
14 NotesSometimes family relationships are given in the name column, but it doesn't look like that was done here.
If their birth and marriage records are online, they're probably in FS's "Slovakia Church Books" collection. Some of it (especially baptisms) is indexed, so you can start with searching by name, but be aware that a lot of the indexing was (and is) done by well-meaning people who clearly don't speak any relevant language, so misreadings and other errors are common. (To be fair, it's a difficult indexing project: sometimes, the register changes languages mid-page or even mid-entry, and there are at least five different languages that occur.)
The other problem with searching by name is that FS's ongoing, ah, troubles with placename fields means that the locations reported in search results are either useless ("Slovensko, Czechoslovakia") or not to be trusted. I therefore actually recommend going to the Catalog page for the place and church in question (in this case the Lutheran churches in Brezova, Vágujhely, and Lubina in Nyitra county, Hungary) and searching particular films. (If the magnifying glass isn't available on a film, you can still search it: copy the film or image group number, go to Search - Records, click for more options, click the "image group …" option, paste in the number, and hit Search.)
"Teach a man to fish" moment: the way I came up with Vágujhely as the Lutheran church to check for the census's "Klein Modró" was to look up Nyitra county in the old RadixHub tabular version of Dvorzsák's gazetteer (on the Wayback Machine). (Of course, it helps in all this that I know that "klein" is German for "little", which is "kis" in Hungarian.)

It's not nearly as handy as the tabular version, but given the Internet Archive's current troubles, here's the University of Pécs's scan of Dvorzsák's gazetteer: https://digitalia.lib.pte.hu/hu/pub/dvorzsak-janos-magyarorszag-helysegnevtara-budapest-verlad-1882-1426.
