Dear Community members,
My Grandaunt Bertha Flemke has two Birth Records, 1st for 1885, 2nd for 1886 (both written in Russian). My sister and I to spend many summers at their (married to Henry Girard) small dairy farm in Connecticut. (Aunt Bertha was my grandmother, Jakobina (Flemke) Elgert’s older sister.) See below for the weblinks.
Thank you for your help.

Birth Record No. 30, Scan No. 10, Nowa Wies, Evangelical Parish, is for Gustaw Rode, born year 1886, son of Bogumil Rode and Wilhelmina, born Streiche. It is not for Berta Flemke.
Birth Record No. 59, scan 17, Nowa Wies, Evangelical Parish, of Berta Flemke, born in Dab Borowy on the 22nd May 1886, christened on the 23rd May 1886, daughter of Jan (Joannes) Flemke, a landowner from Dab Borowy, 33 years old, and of his wife, Julianna, born Czena (?), 27 years old. Witnesses: Ferdynand Czena (?), 25 years old, and Piotr Flemke, a landowner from Dab Borowy, 40 (?) years old. Godparents: unreadeable.

Birth Record No. 30, Nowa Wies, Evangelical Parish, of Berta Flemke, born in Dab Borowy on the 21st March 1885, christened on the 22nd March 1885, daughter of Jan Flemke, a landowner from Dab Borowy, 33 years old, and of his wife, Julianna, born Czens, 26 years old. Witnesses: Ferdynand Czens, 23 years old, and Ludwik Dreger, 21 years old, farmers from Dab. Godparents: the first witness and Julianna Jut (?) from Jazow (?).
Please keep in mind that it was a common practice that when an infant/child died and another was born later of the same sex, that child was often given the name of the deceased child as if to replace that child.

I reviewed this record which you had concerns with a Russian speaking person and we agreed on the following;
Birth Record No. 59, scan 17, Nowa Wies, Evangelical Parish, of Berta Flemke, born in Dab Borowy on the 22nd May 1886, christened on the 23rd May 1886, daughter of Jan (Joannes) Flemke, a landowner from Dab Borowy, 33 years old, and of his wife, Julianna, born Czena, 27 years old. Witnesses: Ferdynand Czena, 25 years old, and Piotr Flemke, a landowner from Dab Borowy, 46 years old. Godparents: Ferdinand Czena and Paulina Dreger from Jazow.

Good morning Eppich Maria,
I apologize for my mistake for the Scan 10; Entry #30; it was off by one number, the last number should have been a 5, not 6. You will see the name "(Jan Flemke)" at top and "(Berta)" at bottom. Please translated this version! Here is the corrected link:

Soooooo sorry, otherwise great job!

Thank you Eppich Maria for your translations.
Furthermore, thank you for your informative comment!!
One follow-up question about the translations, would you please make a specific comment about the “(?)” inclusions; it would it easier for me to precisely explain them to others.
All the best,
Kelgert

Some of this Cyrylic handwriting is fuzzy and difficult to identify the letters. (?) means that the interpretation is approximate, and not definite. You may contact a professional Russian translator and maybe you will get a more accurate translation of those two words.

Good afternoon Eppich Maria,
Sorry about pressing “(?)” questions. If suggesting that the Birth Records represent two different people, i.e., they show the same parents and child names; therefore, the differences need to be determined.
Do the parents’ ages change appropriately from 1885 to 1886 (Julianna Czens’ Ancestry Profile page shows 1884 birth followed Bertha’s birth 1886) and is there enough time for the 1886 birth (from 21 Mar 1885 to 22 May 1886 = roughly 14 months).
The other important question is do the Witnesses and Godparents change, if not does age change (example: Ferdynand Czens (Witness and Godparent) the same, but age changes appropriately); Julianna Czen’s mother’s maiden name is Marya Dreger, but cannot find any associated Ludwig Dreger. The other Godparent looks like Julianna (or a Paulina?) Jabs from Jezowz (?). In the 1886 Birth Record, one of the Godparents looks like a Paulina Dreger? The signing-superintendent is the same for both Birth Records. Please express your ideas/comments/changes/addition, etc., since you are genealogist reword text to reflect that.
Do you have any suggestions for a “professional Russian translator”?
Thank you in advance for your help!
All the best,
