Baptism translation ???

A previous confirmation translation was the following in Asmushausen

The entry reads: Conrad Stoecker geb[oren] d[en] 1ten February 1758 = Conrad Stoecker born on the first of February 1758.

A search to find his baptism yields only this in Asmushausen in the same month and year. It seems the first two letters in the surname is ST…… the rest ..well please assist in determining if this record could possible be. (The handwriting -wow!!!) (first record in 1758)

Here's what I can read -

1758

den 5. Febr: Conrad Steker, der Vatter ist Joh: George Steker [opilio? boi?}, die Mutter Anna, der Patter Conrad [Lehn?] von Rokkensüss, der Mutter Bruder.

Translation - Conrad Steker, father is Joh. George Steker [don't know what these two words are], the mother is Anna, the godfather is Conrad [Lehn?], the mother's brother.

Note - I would say that Steker is a variant of the later Stoecker spelling, so you've probably found the right person. And if you go back to that confirmation record, knowing that he was born on the 5th of February, you might find that that unclear character was really a 5 and not a 1.

Thank you for translating this. A question I have is that I thought this was a baptism record because back two or three pages the heading says baptism in Asmushausen. https://www.archion.de/p/509903b68b/ is the link to the translation

If correct his birth is 1st of February and baptism 5th of February

I am looking for the marriage of his parents as a hopeful assist .

Hello Trish,

The heading preceding Conrad's entry is: Gebohren 1758 = Born 1758.

However, this is a church register and baptismal dates are more important than birth dates. Given that this record includes the child's godfather/baptismal sponsor, the 5 February date is likely to be a baptismal date.
