Help with Towns
Hello,
I came across three different town names in the Russian Empire, but I can't find where they are today. Any help is appreciated.
Starz
Indesz - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSMB-LQ61-V?view=index&action=view
Endisch - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-C9BT-6W64-9?view=index&personArk=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AHPGP-4GMM&action=view
Thanks!

all I can with any amount of certainty is that 2 and 3 are likely the same place as both would sound something like Индыш
There is a place that was called something like this in Vyatka gubernia, Yaran uezd https://familio.org/settlements/dc4cd86d-e171-449c-8df1-7d52c238bea1 and it's now called Tsekeevo. This is just speculation though, the country was way too big and US border guard were writing down place names from what they heard from the arriving often illiterate foreign passengers, so the spelling may be very far from the actual place names.
Starz is also nothing like an existing place, may have been Star', Tarsk, Sars or any other of hundreds of similarly sounding place names. Don't see any of those close to Indysh though.
