Requesting a Naturalization translation
I am thinking is my Frank Beeker (Franz Bieker??) because New york census had him as a brakeman (as this record says). NY records gave birth as March (1867) and wife as Fredericka. Many details connect. The person recording gave place of birth as Onglilmsen—I think it reads Anglehausen or something like that.
Any further help reading the details in this record will be appreciated. (advise if source is not sent correctly—new to this
Thank you

Hi Trish.
In the upper portion of the record, it looks like it says Franz was born in Elinghausen. Then lower down, it says his last residence was Ehringhausen. It also says he came to the US on the ship [Lanz?], and arrived in the port of NY on or about 2 June 1888. It gives his birth date as 31 March 1866, and that he currently resides at 219 50th Street in Brooklyn. His wife is "Frederick."
There are several possibilities for Ehring[s]hausen at Meyers Gaz -
https://s.meyersgaz.org/search?search=ehring*hausen
as well as other possibilities for Elling[s]hausen -
https://s.meyersgaz.org/search?search=elling*hausen
I would look for a passenger list to see if it can add any further details.

Thank you for clarifying the location.
I have been searching on ancestry for a passenger list for June 1888 with no success so far —an area of searching I am not familiar with. I think the couple were married before leaving Germany. The 1900 census provides the first child birth in December of 1888 and couple married 13 years.

Of the lists provided by @sylviaelchinger1 , note that https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/10429008 and https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/10407070 are very close to each other.

Hello Trish,
The naturalization document records that Franz Bieker was born on 31 March 1866 in "Elinghausen".
Here is Franz Bieker's birth/baptismal record: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VH43-4ZB
Note in the record he was born on 31 March 1866 and baptized on 1 April 1866 in Obermarsberg, Brilon, Westfalen, Preußen, Deutschland.
Here is the link for Obermarsberg from Meyers Gazetteer: https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/20374026 Click on the "Map" link in the gray bar at the top at you will find Obermarsberg marked with a red arrow and just to the east-southeast of this you will find a place called: Erlinghausen.
Here is the link for Erlinghausen from Meyers Gazetteer: https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/10451032 Click on the "Ecclesiastical" link in the gray bar at the top and you will note that the closest Catholic parish is Obermarsberg.
So, Franz Bieker was born in Erlinghausen and baptized in Obermarsberg.
The spelling of his birth place in the naturalization document as "Elinghausen" is incorrect and should have been written as: Erlinghausen.

Mr Seal, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for what you have found. You have gone up and beyond researching this for me. I have searched so many years trying to locate more on this family. A little history—his grandson lived with my grandparents and my dad after his mother died from cancer (sister to my dads mother-my grandmother). I discovered that grandson buried in arizona after some military time. I simply could not find enough info to go further at that time. Now you have found they were right there nearby. A cemetery hint appeared where he was buried in the cemetery my parents are buried at and my home town area- Center Moriches, Long Island New York. Also there is his wife Friedrike.
I truly cannot thank you enough—
Trish

I have been trying to figure how to get to other records here. I used a link from some family records and found sibling marriages but not the one for my Franz Bieker. Thank you. Needed this help.

I am not sure if you will get this —in reference to you help connecting to matricula—I found Franz Bieker birth as you know but have not found his marriage record. Hunching on 1887/1888 before immigrating in 1888 His wife birth record not found either. I have been trying to find perhaps a second church nearby for the marriage record. I just don't understand where to search based on meysgaz or matricula. Paderborn is 19 miles from Obermarsberg and has 5 catholic churches. Any advice you can teach me would be appreciated.

It seems all Franz' siblings were married in the Obermarsberg Catholic church (both before and after 1887/1888) and in his naturalization record he says his last residence in Germany was in Erlinghausen so his marriage should be there too. But as you observed, it is not there.
Possibilities:
- Maybe Fredericka was not Catholic and they did not marry in the Catholic church? I don't find any Protestant church records or civil marriage records for Erlinghausen available online. I'm fairly certain that civil records for marriages were being recorded at that time. You might try contacting the local government in Erlinghausen to inquire if civil marriage records for the late 1880s exist and where they are located. This is probably your best chance of finding more information on Fredericka.
- They married in a different location. This could be a very difficult search. If you go on Matricula for the Obermarsberg records and click on "View Full Map" and zoom out a little it will show you all the nearby towns with red markers on those having records available on Matricula. Sometimes it takes a few seconds before the red markers to appear. That is probably the best way to identify nearby towns with readily accessible Catholic church records.
- They did not marry in Germany.
The records in Germany for Franz are all Catholic church records and those for the entire family in the US are all civil records. You might want to expand your search in the US for church records for Franz and Fredericka (marriage and death) and for all their children (birth, marriage and death) since any of these might include Fredericka's birth location and maiden name (which is not clear to me from the two existing civil records that give it as Warring/Werning). FindMyPast might have Catholic church records for the New York area or perhaps you could contact the local Catholic churches in the cities they lived in. If there are no Catholic church records after the move to the US then perhaps "possibility # " above is correct. You might also want to look for protestant records.
Also, you should request an actual full copy of Fredericka's 1931 Suffolk County death certificate from Suffolk County vital records. It should have a space for her birth date and location as well as her parents names. It would also be a good idea to get full copies of the county civil birth/marriage/death certificates for each of their children. All these might have the mothers maiden name and birth location.
