I've browsed the sources under their names, but I just can't read them. I''m hoping if i get a complete translation, I might find who her parents are and a little more about Tyref.

Thankyou

Wendy

About Knislinge church records. "A fire at the Hjärsås parsonage on 30 April 1895 destroyed a large portion of the Knislinge church records. Clerical surveys before 1861 were destroyed by fire along with many other records". No church records for Knislinge exist in 1700s. Regarding Kierstena Torbiönsdatter burial record: Buried on Prayer Sunday 29 May, wife of Nils Nicklasson in Qviinge, Kristianstad, Kierstena Torbiönsdatter, born Knislinge 26 September 1752, married 20 October 1771, died 18 May 1791, 38 years and 8 months. Her parents are not listed.

    @ Wendy Phillips

Kierstena's death record lists her birth place as Knislinge Mÿlla (Mölla) which is a farm or village in Knislinge parish. The Mantalslängder for Knislinge are in really bad shape and quite spotty. There is a record for 1751 that lists a Torbiorn Nilsson at Knislinge Mölla - I think it would be safe to say that he is Kierstena's father. It also says his wife is there (she is accounted for on the right-hand page, second column tic mark) but her name is not given. This record has had some very serious damage and it is not possible to tell what each column means, but in other records I have seen, the first column is for the husband/man of the house and the second column is for the wife. The other columns can be for sons, daughters, drängs, pigas, lodgers etc. That record is here: https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/A0003070_00233#?c=&m=&s=&cv=232&xywh=900%2C2465%2C1639%2C1393 . Torbiorn Nilsson is the fourth name from the bottom of the left-hand page. The information on the right-hand page for him and his household, is near the bottom of the page and shows a total of 4 household members.

The next available Mantal for Knislinge parish is not until 1786, 35 years later, but there is a Nils Torbiornsson (probably Torbiorn Nilsson's son and brother to Kierstena Torbiornsdotter?) living at Knislinge Mölla along with his wife and possibly other family members. It looks like for some reason, Nils and his wife are not being taxed-there are no marks on the right-hand page in the first or second column for them. Again, unfortunately, there is no way to tell for sure what the columns mean. That image is here (8 lines up from the bottom) : https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/A0003073_00317#?c=&m=&s=&cv=316&xywh=643%2C2198%2C1918%2C1630 . There is also a widow living there named Gabriella (7th line from the bottom). If Nils Torbiornsson is the son of Torbiorn Nilsson (good possibility of that!) then the widow, may just possibly be his mother. But there is no way to prove that from this record. I think the abbreviation before her name is "ihs" which is probably "inhyses = a person living free at another person's home, lodger". See the Swedish Genealogical Word List: https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Swedish_Genealogical_Word_List .

The previous Mantal for Knislinge is for 1743. Torbiorn Nilsson is already living at Knislinge Mölla in 1743 with his family. In this record, it is possible to identify what each column means by looking at the first page in the record (page 165). The first column records the man, the second column is for the wife, the 3rd column is for sons, the 4th column is for daughters, the 5the column is for drängs (farmhands), the 6th column is for pigas (maids), the 7th column is for inhyses (living free or lodgers) and the 8th column is the total number of taxable people in the household. The name Kierstina shows up right under Torbiorn's name. I can't be sure, but the words before her name may be "Ins[ider] mod[er] = lodger mother" (Torbiorn's mother?). There is a note in the far right column about her-I believe is says "insider Kierstina is old (too old to be taxed)". "Insidder" is a Danish/Norwegian word for tenant or renter. That record is here (7 lines up from the bottom): https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/A0003069_00175#?c=&m=&s=&cv=174&xywh=1002%2C2643%2C1604%2C1363 .

    Dear friend, Norm,

Once again you have given me information I would not have been able to understand on my own. Thankyou so much.

It seems to me the info on Kierstenas father can be put in FamilySearch, but the rest is good to know. What would you feel comfortable putting in FS?

I would be entirely comfortable adding Torbjörn Nilsson in Family Search as Kierstena's father - that is pretty solid. The rest however, is really just conjecture, and better to leave it blank than to put incorrect information in.

That was my thought as well, although I'll keep it all in my paperwork.

Norm, you are rock star!!!. Thank you again.
