Help with name of birthplace in 1843, presumably in Prussia, maybe Mecklenburg
Hello, I received am 1872 marriage record from Hamburg recently and have been able to translate most of it (or have had a German translator do what I couldn't). But neither of us could decipher the birthplace of the bride.
Johanne Caroline Plath, daughter of Friedrich Plath and Anna Catherine Redmann, was born 3 March 1843 in a place called Niemezye. I couldn't find it in Meyers Gazetteer; neither could my translator. He didn't find it in Kartenmeister, either. Johanne was said to be a citizen of Prussia. I wonder if anyone recognizes the name of this place and could suggest where it is located, please. Many thanks for your help.

Hello @bjschenck1,
I found an abstract of Johanne Caroline Plath's 1843 birth/baptismal record on Ancestry. It doesn't state her birth place but it does state her baptismal place as: Culmsee.
There is a place called Niemczik close to Culmsee:
Niemczik is approximately 6 miles north of Culmsee.
This is likely the place you are looking for.
If you have access to Ancestry, here is the link for the abstract of her birth/baptismal record:

Thank you so much, Robert! Yes, I believe you have found the correct place. I do have Ancestry and have found the reference you provided. I will have a look at the microfilmed records on FamilySearch. I'm very grateful for your expertise (again!).
