How many sources can we have in our source box?
As of right now I have over 12,000 sources in my source box. I feel like that is a lot. How many is too many in my source box? I don't know what would happen to the sources attached to all the events if I were to start deleting sources from my source box. I inherited all of my parents' and grandparents' paper genealogy. I am trying to add all of their research sources to FamilySearch and attach them to each event. That gives more weight to the names, dates, and places already in there. My parents and grandparents did TONS of research. I don't want to lose their work. That means I need to add it to each person. Is there some way of adding sources without putting them in my source box?
Thanks for your help in advance.

You don't have to put anything in your source box.
If you are attaching FamilySearch records to your family's profiles, using the Source Linker, you'll see that placing the records in the Source Box is optional.
I use Source Box more when I'm attaching something from an outside source (a newspaper clipping or a record from another website). I rarely use the Source Box when attaching a record found on FamilySearch.

Here is a Help Article that can help you understand the Source Box a bit better.
Also, if you want to clean out your Source box. . . if you delete something from your Source Box it WILL NOT remove those sources from the ancestors they have been attached to.
But, you should also get used to using the Source Linker (as mentioned above). It is a definite help in managing attaching sources.
