Translation Request - 1578-1579 Knonau, Zurich, Church Records

Hello. I am seeking assistance translating 3.5 lines of text from the Knonau Church Records found at the following link. On the left page, half-way down in the year 1579, is the marriage record for Gorius Frei and Margaretha Burgisser.

Switzerland, Catholic and Reformed Church Records, 1418-1996; https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSX4-9S78?cc=4138674

I have the transcription of the marriage record in the Zurich Archives at:

scopeArchiv - Archive plan search (djiktzh.ch)

Gorius lived in "Der Baregg" or the Hamlet which was part of Knonau at the time. I am seeking assistance for the record on the right hand page. The record is dated earlier 1578. Gorius Frei and the Baregg are listed again. It looks like it might be a birth record with the son's name Gorius at the beginning. I can't tell though if this is the case (before the marriage) or if it is some other sort of record. Of course I have an ancestor Gorius Frei who was either the son or grandson of this couple. This record would make the difference if there is a son.

Thanks in advance.

    Hello

we know each other from the Geneal-Forum 😉.

Unfortunately I cannot open the page you linked to from home - so I cannot answer your question. You'd have to post a copy of this page - see How to download documents and How to upload images.

If you consider the upload procedure too cumbersome - there is a Transcription service on Geneal-Forum as well - and uploading (maximum size 2 MB) is no problem 😉.

@WSeelentag Yes. Thank you for the work you do both on that form and this one. So helpful! It looks like you help so many people. I just followed the process to upload the document. Hopefully it pops up soon. I also posted the image on the Family Tree record for Gregorius Frei and his wife Margaretta Burgisser.

    Thanks!

This is a rather difficult handwriting - would take some effort to learn read it with confidence - but I guess I have transcribed the (for you) important part correctly:

........ dem Schneider in der Baregg: ein Khind getouft heist: Gorius: Gefatter ist gsin Gorius Freÿ in der Baregg: vnd M. Bürgißer housfrow in .....

It is indeed a baptism of a child named Gorius. Not sure about the father, but as usual the godfather and child have the same given name. Gorius Freÿ is just the godfather (Gefatter / Gevatter) of the child.

You are welcome! A comment and a question:

"I also posted the image on the Family Tree record for Gregorius Frei and his wife Margaretta Burgisser."

That was a good idea - this was "readable". A problem with the images uploaded by FS-staff seem to be that they reduce resolution - with the result that is becomes more or less useless: I would not have been able to answer your question with confidence. Conclusion: next time you have a similar file to go with a question - do it "your way" again.

Question: how do you get that "@Alias" into a response?
