1638 Alsace marriage record
First record on top right. It looks like the bride's father's name is Clauß but I haven't seen the 'Von Vendenheim' used like a surname — is that unusual? And I read as the location 'zur Westhoffen'? What would the 'zur' indicate in this case — or does it act like 'zu'?

I agree with you that the bride's father's forename is "Clauß". The father's full name is "Clauß von Vendenheim" which literally translates as: Clauß of Vendenheim. Note that "Vendenheim" is underlined in this record so the person who did the underlining interpreted this as his surname. I don't know if the use of "von" as a surname prefix in this area at this time is unusual as I am not familiar with the naming practices in Strassburg.

"zur" = at the; to.
I read the location as: zur Oesthoffen = at the Oesthoffen. This literally translates as: at the East farm/manor. You could simply translate this as: at Oesthoffen, because it is referring to the town of "Osthofen" in Strassburg.
