Looking for marriage record for John Gayton & Abigail Smith, 18 Feb 1843 Barrington, Nova Scotia
My great great grandparents John Gayton (1815 Argyle, Yarmouth, NS - 1894 Knowlseville, NB) and Abigail Smith (1819 Barrington, Shelburne County, NS - 1902 Knowlesville, NB) were married 18 Feb 1843 by Rev Charles Knowles in Abigail SMith's home in Barrington, Shelburne Co., NS. I have a copy of Abigail Smith's journal where she documents her marriage on that day. I'm unable to locate a formal marriage record for them. Perhaps it was not required to file one at that time? Does anyone have a suggestion where I might look for one? Rev Charles Knowles was a Baptist minister in Yarmouth Co at the time and was associated with the Free Christian Baptist Church. He successfully persuaded local fishermen from Yarmouth Co (including my GG grandfather John Gayton) to give up the sea and take up farming in Knowlesville in 1861.
Thank you. Kyle Gayton Welch

Hi Randall, thank you! I'll reach out to the creator of the Web Site regarding documentation. I think he may have the year wrong, or my GG grandmother had the year wrong in her journal. I'll look more into that.
Kind regards, Kyle
