Birth Certificate in Hessen

hi,

I am trying to find my mums birth certificate, she was born in Hessen in 1930 but I don’t know which village. Can anyone tell me how I can do this as I have spent days and money in trying to find her.

There is a legal embargo on the birth records of anyone born in Germany less than 110 years ago, meaning they are not publicly available and will not be found in any open data base. As a direct decendant you have the right to obtain a copy, but you must apply to the registry office ("Standesamt") of the city where the birth was registered.

This leads back to the question in which city/village your mother was born, otherwise you can't identify the responsible registry office.

Do you have any older liviing family members who might be able to give you some idea of where she was born in Hesse? Similarly, do you have any personal documents of your mother and father and perhaps grandparents which may provide a more specific clue as to where she was born?
