:Dienstags Vormittags zwischen eilf und zwölf uhr, tausand sieben hundert ein und neunzig, den sechsten Decembris, starb an einer hitzigen krankheit wohu endlich der Boand Kam, Anna Barbara, Martin Beÿlen des Bürgers und Webers von hier Ehefrau, und wurde den Tag darauf nachmittags am ein Uhr christlichen Gebrauch nach zur Erden bestattet; Ihres Alters sechs und siechzig Jahr, drei Monat und drei Tag. Here's what I read: starb an einer hitzigen Krankheit wozu endlich der Brand kam = died of a fiery/heated/feverish/acute illness to which the fire finally came.

This doesn't make much sense but I can't find another word for what I think is the word "Brand" = fire.

P.S. I have a nineteenth century German-to-English medical dictionary which defines the word "Brand" as: scald; scalding; burn; gangrene; mortification; necrosis; anthrax.

If that word is "Brand" it seems to be a catch-all for many different medical problems.

You're welcome, Tom. I agree with your interpretation of the cause of death: essentially that Anna Barbara died when the fever reached a climax.
