Thank you. Sad news. He was 52.

Yeah, I noticed that, as that's exactly my current age. :-/
A cause of death of mental illness or dementia always feels like a euphemism, though; I just never know what for.

I agree. It could have been a brain tumor causing crazy behavior. His son, Josef, born in 1867, committed suicide at age 60 in the US or he was drunk when he laid on RR tracks.

"Vas, Hungary Records," images, FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939V-KGSJ-X6 : June 14, 2024), image 91 of 184; Magyar Országos Levéltár. It is the entry of Rozalia on October 1, 1870. I believe this is the person I have searched for. Although, her headstone in MI says she was born 10/1/1871. Her children may have thought her birth year was 1871!

Péter https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VZL2-SCJ
Veronica Jozefa https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VZL2-3HNThe index does not have an István married to an Erzsébet with anything remotely like the right surnames, so she was clearly Éva and the marriage entry simply got it wrong.
