Swedish translation of marriage in Stora Bjällerup Parish in 1749.
I would love some help translating the marriage record of my 7th great grandparents, Nils Jonsson and Anna Andersdotter (M3CC-HLN) in Stora Bjällerup Parish for 17 September 1749. I need to know what the word before Anna Andersdotter means. Is it widow? The Film # 004514630 and image number is 148 and is on page 80.https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9Q97-YSL9-S3XX?i=147&cc=1974200&cat=188857
Thanks for your help

Hello. Here is the Swedish (with some latin in there):
Anno 1749. d. 17 Septembris vigdes husmannen Nils Jönsson med änckan Anna Anders dotter i Nora Biällerup.
Which translates to:
Year 1749. (d. is abrev for "des" or "the") The 17 September were married farmer Nils Jönsson with widow Anna Andersdotter of Nora Bjällerup.
So, yes she is a widow at the time she gets married in 1749.

Thank you! That is very helpful. Now I need to try to find her previous husband! Could you point me in a direction since there are no clerical surveys in that time period? Thanks again, Nathan.

Here are some thoughts—
— try a MyHeritage search of Nils Jönsson and of Anna Andersdotter, to see if anyone else has already found info. If any hits seem like your person, go to the original sources to verify information.
My Heritage LINK It looks like several of these hits might be your people—-the ones with Bjällerup as a place. Checking on them is a good starting place.
— do the same with Ancestry (use a free account from FamilySearch or else go to a FamilySearch center).
— try reading back in time from 1750 in the Bjällerup marriage records, looking for Anna Andersdotter.
— Mantals for Bjällerup LINK. The mantals, or tax records, are not as great as household surveys, but they are the next best.
Hope that is helpful.
