Portrait (Beta) - Family Lines STILL Overlap
It seems like the new Portrait view (used to be Sibling view) has gone through a lot of changes through the past few months. And yet, it still has some of its original interface issues.
When I open my siblings and then my cousins, my cousins are put between myself and my siblings. I'll attempt to attach a picture to show what I mean:
It's even messier when dealing with larger families.
I posted about a similar issue about a month ago, and unfortunately, it hasn't been fixed either. I'm hoping this will be looked in to.
Also in that earlier post, I proposed re-ordering the siblings to always be from oldest to youngest. Is there a specific reason why the focus person is on the end? If anyone could clear that up for me, that would be very appreciated!
(Off topic for the developers, I actually preferred when the expansion arrows had a circle behind them. As a user, they felt easier to click, even though I'm pretty sure they're technically still the same size.)

@Carter J Parker A quick word on the siblings in order. The engineers have fixed the sibling order thing, except that the main tree persons are always going to be centered in the tree…that is my parents will show up next to each other and directly above me, even though they will be out of order when I open their siblings.
As for the overlapping family lines; those are based of a set of rules and they are continuing to fine-tune those rules. Please continue to report additional occurrences of siblings being split when other lines open so that we can track how often this occurs.

I've been mentally reverse-engineering the new view (maybe I'm looking into this too much… 😅), and I now understand why the parents are out of order compared to their siblings. I think I'm on the same page with the engineers now.
As for reporting additional occurrences of siblings being split, it happens whenever you view the cousins of the start person through their father's side. (Open the start person's siblings. Open the father's siblings. Open the children of one of the father's youngest siblings. Crossing is a lot more apparent in families with many children.)
Being able to draw such a large pedigree is not easy, so I get that there are some situation where there isn't any good way to organize the cards in a way that doesn't cross lines. However, the situation I specified does have a different expected outcome, so it should be considered a bug. I'm surprised it's remained in the code for so long.
I'm going to go ahead and throw in another suggestion to help reduce other cases of line overlap:
First, make the lines bolder! When zoomed out, it can be very difficult to view the thinner lines. I wouldn't worry about going too bold. It would take a LOT to make them too big.
Also, when going up from the start person, the horizontal line connecting them to their parents sits low. When going down from an aunt/uncle, the horizontal line connecting to their children sits high. This can lead to line crossing even when all of the profile cards are in the correct order. If this was swapped, I think it could clean things up. (I'll attempt to attach an image because it's hard to describe in words.)
