a few words needed in an Alsace 1619 death record

I am reading it as being for a 11 yr old daughter (with no name cited, unlike in other records nearby), is that right. I can't figure out the two words that look to be describing the way she died (bolded): any suggestions. And the last phrase about her being 'my former godmother' doesn't seem to make sense — how do you read it? Any other corrections?

Hello Tom,

I can make suggestions for a few of your questionable items:

(1) I read the age as iiii with a long tail on the fourth i. This would make the child 4 years old.

(2) eines geshaimden unnd unverschrien: the first word is likely to be some form of the word "geschwind" = quick or fast; the second word is likely to be some form of the word "unvorsehnen" = unforeseen. So the four-year-old daughter died a quick and unforeseen/unexpected death.

I am stumped by the last part about the burial and the word "Göttel" but I think your reading of this phrase is correct.

Some food for thought on the last part of the record.

I looked up the word "Göttel" in the online site Worterbuchnetz. In the Grimm Brothers' dictionary the word is defined as: godfather; godmother; person being baptized.

If we assume the pastor is recording the death records in the register, the phrase "begraben wurde  meinen Göttel gewesene" might translate as: and my former "Taufkind"** [i.e., the child the pastor previously baptized] was buried.

**Note: While we have the word "baptizer" in English, we don't have a word for the child/person being baptized, so I used the German word "Taufkind" here. You could also use "Taufling" = broadly any person, child or adult, being baptized.

Thanks @Robert Seal_1 ! That makes good sense. Also, I found the birth record for her 4 years before, so you are right on the age, too.

You're welcome, Tom. Can you tell if it was the same pastor who baptized her from the handwriting?

The writing is certainly similar, but I can't confirm by names and dates of pastors recorded at the beginning of the book.
