searching UK records
Hello, I am searching Joseph Pile. Joseph Pile migrated to Caribbean around 1838 perhaps… He worked at 2 estates in Jamaica prior to his marriage (all details of his wife are known) there in 1841 & had a son whom he named James... I know is that he came via Bristol ( not uncommon at the time as Bristol was a common departure port) He bought a small estate in Trelawny in 1845 & named it Bristol. There is documented travel of his children to & from Bristol & London. Rumored that his origins may have been England or Scotland. He died in 1892 in Jamaica. Can't find any travel records as I believe most travel then was passage on merchant ships and can't find records of him prior to arrival in Caribbean. The marriage record is only a notation in the registry and does not have his father's name.
Welcoming any suggestions.

An approximate year of birth would be helpful. I assume any record / death certificate would indicate this, through the age at death. There are only a handful of indexed births in England on FamilySearch that might relate to your Joseph Pile, but there might be several more on Find My Past or Ancestry. I could find no record of a Joseph Pile birth / baptism on the ScotlandsPeople website.

I don't see a death registration in 1892 for Joseph Pile in Jamaica. Since he married in 1841, he was likely born 1820 or earlier.
There appear to be several children born to the couple, Joseph Pile and Mary Gaylard (and variants), not just the son James. And Mary's death in 1893 indicates she is a widow. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-8BX7-WPL
