Need Help: emergency baptized.
Hi
I’m not sure about NOTHGETAUFE. It’s a microfilmed record, so I can’t show you. Ten children in one family either were stillborn or lived for a short time.
Here it is used in the record:
… geboren und NOTHGETAUFT ein Kind männlichen Geschlechts.
… born & emergency baptized a male gendered child.
I’m sure about the getauft, but not about the prefix.
I know it is quick baptism by the midwife as the child lived just a few hours.
What do you think?
Thank you!

"not(h)getauft" means emergency baptized. Nottaufe = emergency baptism.
The noun is die Not = distress, need, emergency
The child was obviously very weak at birth and was baptized immediately by the midwife.
