merging or not merging
I didn't see anything in the instructions about needing to merge invited people (their version of themselves and my version of them), yet I see in the discussions that this is taking place.
I invited my spouse and she has joined. From within the group tree she can see my memories but I cannot see hers. I try to merge her version of her with my version of her using Merge by ID but it doesn't allow the merge ("These two people cannot be merged because one has conditions that prohibit changes."). I can't find anything in her profile that is set to private.
I don't believe that my wife did a merge of versions of me. While in the tree she sees my version of me with my memories that I added but while in the family search tree she sees her version of me (different ID) with no memories. So how do the ID's work with the new group trees and how do I see her version of her?
I want to get this working before I invite the children.
Thank you for all the great effort and this great tool!

Yes. You created the tree and COPIED your version of your wife from your own private Person List. She will need to do the same. COPY her own version of herself and her own version of you from her own private Person List. Easiest way to do this is to work from the Group Details page and the COPY FROM MY TREE button that is in the Tree Options box on the right-hand side (you might need to scroll down to see the Tree Options box).
Then go to the Person List for your group and you should see any duplicates there.
Use the IDs listed there to Merge by ID. Her own copy of herself should automatically merge with your copy of her. So you should only see her copy of you as a duplicate that needs to be merged.
As you add each of your children, they will need to take this same process of COPYING in the members of the family that they have information on in their own private Person List and then merging. Currently, their own version of their own self will automatically Copy & Merge, but not any of the records for anyone else. We are looking at ways to make that Copy & Merge happen to other copied profiles, but that is still in the works.
