Before the undersigned civil registrar appeared today, recognized on the basis of a presented birth certificate, the miner Johann Bernard Beckhaus, residing in Lütgendortmund, Römerstraße 68, and reported that his wife Marie Elisabeth Beckhaus, née Heericks, 70 years old, Catholic religion, residing in Lütgendortmund with him, the informant, born at Legden, District Ahaus, daughter of the deceased couple at Legden the pensioner Johann Bernard Heericks and Anna Marie, née Pliet, died at Lütgendortmund in the informant's residence on the 17th of December of the year 1899 in the morning at 12:15 am.
Read aloud, approved, and signed: Bernard Beckhaus.
The Civil Registrar: represented by [signature].
Certified to be in agreement with the Main Register, Lütgendortmund, on the 18th of December 1899.
The Civil Registrar: represented by [signature].
My comments:
Here is the link for Legden, District Ahaus, from Meyers Gazetteer:
Notice in the husband's name "Bernard" is underlined and in the wife's name "Elisabeth" is underlined. This underlining indicates that these were the names they went by in everyday life.
