Displaced person record from WW2
A family member, Edmund Schmidt born 1907 in Lubelskie, Poland, is listed as a displaced person on an Arolsen Archives 1945 document. He is listed as Polish, but was actually German. The document page is headed Altersberg. On that page he is listed under Althutte. I wonder if he was liberated from a forced labor camp. Were either Altersberg or Althutte sites of labor camps? Do any of you have any insite or knowledge about what his listing might mean?

Can you post the document here?

Yes. Here it is. I also sent a query about this to Arolsen, which originally posted it.

It's hard to say exactly because the context of this page is missing. But it looks like a list of foreign people, probably Fremdarbeiter or Zwangsarbeiter (forced laborers). As there are only a few people in each village they may have been deployed to work on the farms.

Ulrich Neitzel,
That makes sense. Thank you very much!
