Can the Community have a login valid for a number of days?
Logins to FamilySearch are effective for 28(?) days. There is no such option on this Community - when I get the Weekly FamilySearch Community Digest for FamilySearch Places I have to go through the trouble of logging in to read the full exchanges - and there is no option to say "Stayed logged in for XX days".
Can we have such an option please? (I assume that I'm not missing something, e.g. that we get it automatically without asking for it).
Indeed - why not use the same login process as the main site so that if I'm logged in on one, then I'm logged in on the other?

The two-week period of time is tied to a security measure that disconnects a computer after twenty minutes of no activity between the computer and FamilySearch.
The two-week period should not be activated by users on computers that are sitting in public places, so that security is maintained.
This community is tied to FamilySearch and as far as I can tell, one has to be logged into FamilySearch to reach the community. Therefore, the two-week login already applies to the community.

I did some quick testing and signed out of FamilySearch, negating the two-week sign-in. Then I activated an emailed link to this discussion and the system required me to sign into FamilySearch, which gave me access to the community.

I just used my bookmarked URL to access this Community and I had to sign in. I was in the main site yesterday - I never sign out of it and usually get straight in without signing in. This Community appears to require a sign-in every time - that is annoying to me - I'd just like to be able to go straight in, without signing on, as I can with the main site - and as I can with GetSatisfaction.

So now I'm even more confused....
I just did a reboot on my Windows 10 machine - opened up the browser, used my bookmarked URL to access this Community and I was presented with the logon screen. I didn't log on.
Instead I went to the main FS site, got presented with the logon screen, ignored it as usual by choosing an option and got in (on the basis that I'd logged in within the last 2w I suppose). NB - presenting you with a logon screen that you can ignore is never a good idea but since it reduces my workload, I'm not complaining.
Then I went back to the bookmarked URL to access this Community and I was not presented with the logon screen. Instead I was straight in. Presumably because the combination of site / Firefox / Win10 knew that I was logged in.
So obviously, Tom is right in that it does use the same mechanism - but it doesn't use it in the same fashion because the main site presented me with a logon screen that I can ignore but the Community presented me with a logon screen that, so far as I can see, I can't ignore.
Unless there's a means to ignore the Community logon screen that I'm missing, then the 2 sites behave slightly differently on first access - the main site lets me ignore the logon screen and get straight in, the Community won't. (And there's definitely no "Stay Logged in ..." option when logging into the Community).
I'd like the Community to behave the same way as the main site. Or let me know what I'm missing!!
