Quality Score issues with marriage cities and death counties that can't be fixed

  1. "Data is Complete" includes the following error: "A marriage place is missing a city." Often marriage certificates are listed under county records and no city is available. It seems a shame to mark the score down for something that can't be fixed. I know it doesn't have to be all 5 stars, but I try. :-)
  2. Under "Data is Conflict Free," for my grandmother, it says: "The date of death +2004-08-25 is in conflict with the standardized place Emmett, Ada, Idaho, United States, which existed from +1890 to +1892." Emmett, Idaho, is currently in Gem County. Yes it was in Ada County from 1890 to 1892, but the event happened in 2004. This isn't a conflict but is marked as one.

Yes, you're right. Those are similar problems.

Regarding your #2. This may actually be functioning as it should. Keep in mind that the scoring looks at the standard linked to the displayed value and not at the displayed value itself. This can point out errors in standardization.

When you go to your grandmother's Detail page and click on the Death information, do you see:

    or

If you see the top one, then there is a problem with the quality checker because there is no mention of Ada county in that version.

If you see the bottom one, then there is indeed a conflict. The quality checker is correctly pointing out to you that the place name is linked to the wrong standard and the standard should be updated to the proper one for the time period. To do so, click in the place name field and reselect the place name from the drop down menu. This will reset the linked standard to the proper one.

Unfortunately, your pictures didn't come through. All I see is a blue background with an hourglass. But I understand what you're saying, I think. I did pick the correct standardized place (which is 1915-present for the correct county). The error isn't there now, but I don't know if it's because I dismissed it or because I double checked the standardized place name. 🤷‍♀️

@EchoFarrowTaylor Images have to be approved by the moderator bot and may take a few minutes to appear. I can see them. Refresh/reload the page if you still cannot see them.

Update: Engineers are still looking into this one, and have not resolved this yet. Thank you for your input, and continued patience.

Update: the 17 Apr 24 update should have fixed this.
