Father's Name on Marriage Record, 1666 Neunkirchen bei Weiden, Regensburg
Looking for assistance deciphering the given name of the father of the groom on a marriage record dated 22 June 1666, Neunkirchen b. Weiden Catholic Parish Book No. 1, pg. 89 - link to the record:
It is the marriage entry on the very bottom left, 1666 22 June, Hans Pausch, son of [?????] Pausch von Edeldorf and Anna his wife, to Eva, daughter of Matthias Ehrman von Ullersricht and Ursula his wife.
I have a guess but I would like to know what the community thinks? What do you make it out to be? Have you seen this name before? Thanks.

To me it looks like (a sloppy) Hannß. Compare to the Hannß in the previous record, 4 lines above the father's name.

I read the name as either "Hanns" (less likely) or "Hannß" (more likely). And in either case I agree with @sylviaelchinger1 that it is sloppily written.

I think the form of the name written here is actually "Hannsen" the genitive of Hannß, meaning "of Hanß". Note that the surname "Pausch" also has the hook at the end which means the ending "-en".

I hesitate to comment because @sylviaelchinger1 and @Robert Seal_1 are much better at reading these old documents than me. But to me it appears more like Hannsen. The same first name appears for the brides father in the 12 June record on the right side of the page and for the grooms father on the 11 August record. It seems to have the distinctive downward hook that the scribe uses when ending a word with "en".

Thank you all! Very helpful.

So @Craig Kanalley -- what was your original guess?

@Robert Seal_1 I had Heinrich in my original transcription (thought maybe Henny/Hanny) but revisiting the record a second time that seemed really off.. that’s why I turned to the group. Hannß or Hannßen makes much more sense.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Craig.
