In the year 1840 on the 26th of July in the afternoon at 3 o'clock was born here, and on the following day was baptized at 1 o'clock in the afternoon in the local church: Wilhelm, illegitimate son of the unmarried Theresia Schmitt from here, daughter of the unmarried Maria Anna Schmitt from here. Witnesses are: Franz Josef Frei, teacher here, and Ferdinand Gerstner, citizen and potter in Gernsbach, at the same time godparents, and the unmarried [Emerenz?] Meier, citizen's daughter from here, godmother.
