Can someone translate the date on this birth record and confirm what I have already translated?
Hello,
I have the birth record for my 4th great grandfather from Reichshoffen which is on the border of Germany. This record is in Latin as it's a Catholic church record and I've had helpers in the German area who were able to translate Latin for me previously. Hopefully someone can help :)
I have a birth date of 25 March 1752 for Joseph Eppele but I'm trying to verify that in this translation.
Here is my loose translation so far:
(Can't read the first couple words but think it may say) 25th of March 1752, the below underwritten parish in Reichshoffen, he was born Joseph (Eppele) legitimate son of Joannes Eppele citizen and he was a cabinet maker and Margaretha Hasenfratz. The married couple was living in Reichshoffen this parish and yesterday he (Joseph) was born. The godfather was John George Marx? sp? citizen and farmer. The godmother was Catharina He?? sp? daughter of Michael He?? sp? citizen and maker of cabinets and Maria Magdalena Zielgelmeyer living in ???? in Reichshofen. The godparents declared (something I can't read) and signed below.
Signatures follow for: John George Marx, a mark for the godmother, a mark for Joannes Eppele and the signature for the parish priest in Reichshoffen Joannes Fürst.

Here are the Latin words I can decipher:
???? vigesimo quinto ???? martii anni millesimi septingentisimi quinguagesimi secondi a me infra scripto parocho in Reichshoffen baptizatus est Josephus filius Joannis Eppele civis et fabri lignarii et Margaretha Hasenfratz conjugum commorantium in hoc parochia, et heri natus? est patrinus fuil or fuit Joannes Georgius Marx?sp? civis et agricola ????, matrina viro Catharina He?? filia Michaelis He?? civis et fabri lignarii et Maria Magdalena Ziegelmeyer commor??y quoque? in Reichshoffen patrinus? una? mecum? subscripsit pater autem et matrina debite? ihto??llati? declaravit? se scriber? n?s?ire? notay? ??as
A??os??runt?
Signature of John George Marx?, followed by X mark of matrina or godmother,
signature of Joannes Eppele or X mark
signature of Joannes Fürst parish priest in Reichshoffen

Hello @JulieDiehl1,
I can help you with the date:
Hodie vigesimo quinto mensis martii = Today the 25th of the month of March . . .

Hi Julie,
This is exactly how the record begins: "Hodie vigesimo quinto mensis martii . . ."
And yes, according to this record the child Joseph was baptized on 25 March 1752.
Hopefully another community volunteer well-versed in Latin will be able to review the remainder of your transcription and translation to confirm the accuracy of your work.
Best regards, Robert Seal_1

A few edits for the translation:
Today, 25th of March 1752, was baptized by me the undersigned priest in Reichshofen: Joseph (Eppele) (legitimate) son of Joannes Eppele, citizen and cabinet maker, and Maria Margaretha Hasenfratz, his wife, residing in this parish in Reichshofen, and yesterday he (Joseph) was born. The godfather was Johann Georg Marx, citizen and farmer here. The godmother was Catharina Henz, daughter of Michael Henz, citizen and cabinet maker, and Maria Magdalena Ziegelmeyer, also living in Reichshofen. One godparent signed together with me, but the father and the godmother declared not to be able to write and signed with their mark.

Thank you Robert! Does it look like that's what the written document says? "Vigesimo quinto mensis" etc?
If so this is soooo helpful! It means his birthday was actually the 24th of March and he was baptized the 25th of March.
Thanks so much!!
Julie
