    Hi @HeidiJoShaffer

Would you be able to supply a link to the record (or at least the date of the child's birth) so we can compare the handwriting? That often helps to be able to read records like this one.

    Thanks.

Yes, thank you for checking. This is in Viborg County, Sønderbæk Parish

See Opslag #61 in 1751 (it's the first entry in 1751) Peder Nielsen's son christened and called ______?

I also found this name written on Opslag #46 on the third entry. _____Nielsen on the left side of the ledger

The name occurs quite often in this parish. Looking at the second example you uploaded above, there is a name that has the same ending to it. The name is Mouridts/Mouridtz. So the name you are asking about must end in "dts or dtz". The first 2 letters are "La" which would make the name "Ladts or Ladtz". I don't see that in the list of name in Nordic Name Finder (https://www.nordicnames.de/namefinder/), but I can't think of what else it could be.

I will attach an image with both names highlighted.

The 1787 census for Sønderbæk parish has the names Mourids as well as Las and Laurids. I think Ladts/Ladtz maybe a variation of those Las or Laurids.

    Norm,

Thank you--you have been very helpful! In researching around the parish for the other writing similar to this one, I think you are correct! dtz seems to be the ending of several names but this one has me a little stumped. I am calling it Ladtz--as that seems to be correct. Your example of Mouridtz was helpful, too.
