Merging living info

My understanding was by creating a group tree we would be able to merge living family info. I would not need to add all of my nieces to my tree as I would be able to obtain them from my siblings tree when we created a group. The memories that my brother has created for my living mother would/could be merged with the memories that I have for my mother. All around this new program needs more directions on what it can and cannot not do and how to do these things. Thank you!
