Thank you, Sylvia. This means a lot to my family. We have only heard family stories of Barbara's existence as half-sister to our direct line ancestor. Have a nice Saturday.

Hello,
Thank you for translating the birth record of Maria Hemmer. Her mother may be the same mother, Anna Hemmer, who gave birth to Barbara Hemmer in the above translation.
In this record, I see only that Anna Hemmer as a maid. It looks like the godparents are different. Not much information in the record.
Thank you for your translation.

Hmm, thank you so much. I guess there is not enough to say it's the same mother. I will keep this in my notes! Tammi

I would look for a death or marriage record for both girls, which might confirm whether it's the same mother.

Ok thank you, I will do that. In the case of Barbara, the family story is that she went to Hungary to enter a cloistered nunnery. A death in Ligist could disprove that theory, which is good, as I have no idea how to search for Barbara in a nunnery!

Hi Sylvia,
We left off with your suggestion that I search death and marriage records for Barbara and Maria Hemmer, the supposed daughters of Anna Hemmer of Hemmerchristi of Oberwald. I am more confident that Barbara is her daughter. I still have no proof that Maria was.
I searched the records for deaths and marriages and found nothing for either of them. There were lots of Maria Hemmers but none with Anna Hemmer as her mother. There were zero records for a Barbara Hemmer.
I decided to see if I could find a family connection to the occupants of the houses where they were each of the daughters were born. But, I can't clearly read the information and ask for your translation, please, of these two records. From what I could read, the occupants of Barbara's birthplace #13 has a familiar name: Kurzl or is it Kurgl, a carpenter, who was also the god parent to Barbara. So Anna may have lived with these people although Kurgl is not familiar, but Kurzl is. The Kurzl's married into the Hemmer family.
Anyway, I will follow this path and then embark on another path. Anna married in 1872 and her children could have been adopted by Alois Hecher.

Thank you, Sylvia, for translating these records. I will keep them for reference later. As of now, there are no surnames that tie to my Austrian ancestors.
