How to make small payments from U.S. to German archive offices?
I will soon be contacting an archive in Germany for some records. I'm expecting to need to make small payments. My bank wants an outrageous amount of money to do a wire transfer. My credit card company can handle it easily but the archives understandably don't accept credit card payments.
I'm looking for advice from any U.S. residents who have successfully made small payments to archives in Germany. What have you done that works well with reasonable fees? I'm seeing a few companies like "Xe", "Remitly", "Xoom" and "Wise" that claim to be able to transfer money to Europe reasonably. But I have no idea if these will really work.

Hello Greg,
I have used PayPal in the past to send money to archives in Germany. BUT you would need to ask the specific archive you are planning to send money to if it accepts payments via PayPal.

I have frequently used Wise (mentioned by Sylvia) to make payments to various archives in Germany. It works well, I've never had a problem.
