Trying to locate birth records_parent information for two sisters

Hello,

I've doing some research for a friend on Lillie and Phebe (sp) Singler, sisters, who, according to various census records were born in Maryland. Both are African-Americans. Lillie was born around 1870 and Phebe around the year 1869. Phebe married Moses Davis and lived in Smyrna, Delaware. Lillie never married but had four children with David Blackiston/Blackston. Like Phebe, she lived in Smyrna, Delaware, dying there in 1915.

I'm trying to locate their birth records and determine who there parents were -- I'd welcome any suggestions for research and I'm happy to provide more information and answer questions.

Correction -- Phebe was born around the year 1861 NOT 1869. I'm sorry for the error.

Have you tried searching the Maryland Wiki Page? Under "Getting Started with Maryland Research, there are two articles that might be useful. The first is Step-by-Step Maryland Research 1850-1910, and second is How to Find Birth Records.

Please let us know if this helps in your research and if you've been able to find the birth records you are looking for.
