Could someone share information on how to find and use the Family books or registers?
I am trying to learn how to find and search for the Familien Buchs or Familian registers referred to in the church records.
There are page numbers and sometimes Volume? Numbers in Roman Numerals. How do you navigate finding these records and what do the upper indicators or Volume(?) numbers mean?
Thank you!
PS. While I am asking, I would also like to learn about finding and using the emigration records and the census or population count records. Are there links to classes or information that could be shared?

Here's a link to information on German church records, and about half-way down the page, family registers in particular -

Most places in Germany did not have censuses as we think of them in the US, every 10 years. However, the church in many places might have compiled a so-called Seelenregister or list of souls, which can be used as a census equivalent. See here for more information:

Lastly, with regard to emigration records, these would usually be kept at the Kreis or administrative district level, rather than at the town level. Regulations and requirements for emigration varied by state and by timeframe. See here for more information -
