Oddity in spanish interface when transcribing Latin American records as Christening or Baptism
Hi, what is the policy to be followed regarding transcribing information about a Catholic baptism as Baptism or Christening?
Also, please take a look at translation problems posed by the labels.
To see the example of oddities, staring in the English language interface, I gave both Baptism and Christening to date from an image: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:66SJ-9QST
To mark which is which, for baptism, I added the name of the Catholic Parish ("Nuestra Señora de la Consolación").
However, when I switch my language to Spanish, I see that a Catholic (Apostolic and Roman) Christening has been translated as "Bautismo Anglicano", which is not! ;D @mikedavis2
In the search interface Christening loses its Anglican denomination and is called "Bautismo en otra iglesia".
Once the record is being linked to Family Tree, Christening becomes "Bautismo infantil".
I bet that this issue has been debated in the USA. The label "Christening" was a good compromise and marker for birth. For data consistency, in Spanish its translation should probably be "Bautismo Infantil", regardless of denominational creed, and the label be consistent across interfaces.
