Anders Fogelqvist Master Hatmaker
My 4th great grandfather, Anders Fogelqvist (1744-1800) was a hatmaker, then in later clerical surveys a MASTER hatmaker, and, in his marriage to Lisa Lagerstrom, the following:
Marriage for Anders Fogelqvist and Lisa Lagerstrom found in Arkiv Digital AID: v124204.b30.s26, 28 Aug 1791. Anders is from Enkoping. Lisa is from Racksta/Hacksta?. Also found in Arkiv Digital: marriage of hatmaker master Anders Fogelqvist who also works for the king's artillery, married the widow Anna Marie Lundeberger 7 December 1775. When Anders and Lisa married, he was 43 and she was 26 years old.
Would a master hatmaker have worked on headgear for the military since it indicates that Anders worked for the king's artillery? This may just be speculation, but I'm hoping someone might have a good idea if that might have been something Anders did as a master hatmaker.
Thanks.

Interesting! The way I see it, someone would've had to make the military headgear--and who better than a master hatmaker? Since he's listed as both a master headmaker and someone who works for the artillery, his hatmaking likely consisted of more than the king's artillerymen, but it seems plausible he would have made headgear for them as well. You might find this page of info regarding headgear and uniforms of the Swedish army throughout time interesting: http://www.hhogman.se/uniforms-army-sweden-1700s.htm (it took a long time to load when I pulled it up).
That said, I looked up the referenced 1775 marriage record (v124172a.b6.s2), and it lists him as a constapel in the king's artillery--that is, a gunner (see "konstapel" at https://swedishgenealogyguide.com/dictionaries/swedish-historical-dictionary-database-shdd). Since he was a gunner in the artillery, he may or may not have also used his hatmaking skills there.

Sorry for the late response. This is certainly information that I missed when I looked at the marriage record. You've given me some great information and more to review, and I thank you so very much for your help!
