Help with meaning of note - did or did not immigrate?
Lars Erik Hellqvist, born 3 April 1858 in Ärla. Starting in 1883 there is a note about America. This stays on the records until 1911 which is as far as I have been able to find sources for him. On FamilySearch the feeling is he came to America in 1883 and then died in 1885. There are lots of challenges with that thought especially since there are no sources to back that up. I also have not been able to find an exit record. Please help me sort this out.
This last one I do not have access to it on the riksarkivet but I did find it on ArkviDigtal

It seems that Lars Erik moved away without requesting a moving certificate. In the following husförhörslängder he is just registered as absent (obefintlig) with the assumption that he is in America.

Thank you. I am still trying to wrap my thoughts around the fact that they kept him the books for so long after he left. Was there a guideline for this?

I am not aware of a specific guideline on this matter. Probably it depended on the scribe's habit whether he transferred the "untraceable" people into the next book.

Ok. This is the first time I have run into this information presented in this way. Thank you for helping me understand what was happening.
