The online records are a little sparse for this area and time period but you can get some additional details for https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/L14M-8NZ by doing a Google search for "Russell Streak" South Africa. There are one or two Ancestry public trees which give specific birth and death places for Russell V. Streak. I would think that newspapers should have reported on this death but did not find any online in the searches I did. Additional searches with the birthplace or death place leaving out South Africa may give a few additional options to look at.

Thank you for your suggestions. I actually had the death date wrong, he died in 1969. I have tried all the records but have been unable to get an answer.
Thanks

I'm not quite sure what "all the records" means. To do thorough and accurate family history research (successful research) the specifics of exactly which records have been searched is needed. This isn't meant to downplay what you have done but if you help us know exactly which records you have tried someone may have an idea for a record you haven't tried, didn't know about or couldn't look at because it wasn't online.
Do you have a death certificate for Russell V. Streak?

No, I cannot find a death certificate among my late husband's, James N Streak's, files. I have searched at Ancestry.com, Family Search all records for South Africa, including Transvaal deaths, newspapers and google search. I am close with his children, Simon and Samantha, but they don't know anything other than what their dad told them. Apparently, the mother never fully recovered from Russell's death and did not talk about him.

This helps me a little more. I think that with the extra information in the Ancestry public trees I'll try some different searches online and then look into what may be available off line. It may be a few days before I can report back.

Just a thought... A quick search by me did not turn up anything. The South African records just get better and better, so in time maybe there will be something. There is a Facebook group that is focused on "South African Genealogy" group. Since you have names, dates, location and event it really helps in the search. Often if you post questions there, the over 11,000 members help one another. Many of these people will be local and may have access to resources that are not online, for example papers in 1967 may not be online, but may be available in the local archive. I hope that you are able to make a connection with the records.

The public tree on Ancestry shows a little detail on birth place and death place but nothing more. A Google search with those details don't provide anything more so it is time to see what records may be available from FamilySearch via the Family History Library Catalog (FHLC). There are a lot of records not online yet and the FHLC is the first place to search for material on microfilm and microfiche. There will be other places to search if that fails. I'll let you know what I discover.

The Family History Library Catalog shows that some civil registration death records are available on microfilm and in digital form. The records don't appear to be included in the record search portion of FamilySearch so you will need to access this through the catalog. Because there are different levels of access to the digital images you may need to visit a Family History Center or affiliate library to view the images. https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/1048929?availability=Family History Library
