I'd like confirmation that the town of birth for Ann Nemanic, DOB 05 JUL 1860, is Bozakovo.

I'm not familiar or practiced with this particular flavor of That Dratted Handwriting, but the birthplace column's entry does look like "Boschakovo" to me.

It could be Loschakovo... the B and L are very similar in German script; I'm just providing the alternative if nothing comes up as Boschakovo.

The German -sch- most often becomes -ž- in Slovenian. These would be considered phonetic equivalents, but a -z- could be accurate as well.

There used to be a place called Boschakova in that (Laibach's/today's Ljubljana) area. (According to newspapers from 1845, e.g. Vereinigte Laibacher Zeitung 7. Juni 1845, page 7, vide: Anno anno.onb.ac.at) I cannot find it today, so either it still exists and was re-named or it's no longer in existence.

@StH31, the place is Božakovo, Metlika, Slovenia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bo%C5%BEakovo); it's just written according to German spelling rules in the record in question. (Well, mostly. The 'v' should technically be a 'w' in German.)

@Julia Szent-Györgyi Thank you. (German spelling rules are tricky. There are differences between Austrian German and the Germans' German in all aspects. And parish priests often hailed from places far away; quite often, they clearly had absolutely no idea what they were trying to spell.)
