I have studied this writing for several days and have to say I cannot seem to get a good translation on it. I think one word may be Lägersmål, but before I entirely ruin this lady's reputation, I'd like confirmation.

This is from the years 1867-1873. The woman is Suzanna Jakobsdotter born 29 Dec 1847. She is still listed with her parents on this page. They are in Jalasjarvi, Finland.

I'd appreciate the help and also if you wouldn't mind typing out the Swedish as well as the English. I am trying to teach myself to read this old handwriting.

    Hi Virginia,

    Transcription: "30/8 abs: 19/6 68 för 1sta res. lägersmål. | 2dra res: 14/5 72. sakfålld för d[itt]o. 73"

    Translation: "30/8 abs[olved] 19/6 (18)68 for 1st time (of) having illicit relations. | 2nd time 14/5 (18)72. Fined for the same (18)73."

@Norm Baker , what word is res. short for? I am looking through my word lists and an old swedish-english dictionary from that time period but having difficulty narrowing down which word it is for.

The base word is "resa = time". The Swedish Genealogy Guide Dictionary Database is having some kind of problem and is only showing the first entry when you do a search. However, the 1814 dictionary that it is based off of, can be still be accessed. I will attach a screen shot with the word high-lighted so you can see it. This is a link to the page: https://swedishgenealogyguide.com/dictionary/widegren_page_image.php?imageId=W0534.

Oops! That is the 1788 (not 1814) Dictionary that the Database is based on.

I first came across "resa" in a site that gives Finnish/Swedish abbreviations in the Communion records and their meanings. That site can be accessed here: https://www.genealogia.fi/lyhenteita/. If you do a "Control-F" search using, "1 resans   lönskaläge", you will see the meaning in Swedish and Finnish. You can use Google translate to get the English meaning.
