The wedding was in Surrey, England. Did they remain in England? https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-surrey-mirror-and-county-post-etc/131674730/

Hi Áine Ní Donnghaile,
thanks for your reply and information. They both settled down in St-Francois Beauceville, Beauce, Quebec, Canada. They left in the mid '50's. From long ago stories I think they had three children. I would think the surname 'Mathieu' in the area is very common, similar to our 'Smith' in the UK.
Best Wishes,
Lee Hotson

Joseph Rene Dominique Mathieu, born 23 jan 1912 in St. Francois, Beauce, Quebec. He died 27 jun 1976 in Laval, Quebec. His parents were Francois Mathieu and Marie Vitaline Jolicoeur. Francois is in FamilySearch (with a picture) ID 9VQQ-353; Vitaline is L8WY-KVT. There are some pictures of Francois and other family members.
There is a marriage record in LaFrance for Rene's daughter, Janice Anne Melinda Mathieu, age 18,, who married Lasilo Balint, age 25, on 10 oct 1981 in Laval. The marriage record indicates she was born in Calgary, Alberta and she lived in Ontario at the time of her marriage (Thunder Bay after her marriage). You may already know this but I will paste in a picture of her marriage record. Christine Mathieu, probably a sister, is a witness.
So the family was in western Canada (Alberta) and probably Ontario, before Rene moved back to Montreal area (Laval). There are several family trees in Ancestry.com with pictures of grandparents, uncles and aunts of Rene, if that is helpful to you. I am related to both Francois and Vitaline - and FamilySearch says Rene is my 5th cousin twice removed. I found the information on Rene and Dorothee's death and Janice's marriage on genealogyquebec.com.

Hi lindastowemiller,
What can I say, absolutely brilliant. I have never seen this before. Thanks very much for your help and it is appreciated. It has helped to go on further. It would be nice to if they are still around as I have some information and photographs of the Eccles family.
Best Wishes,
Lee
