@CarolFlaherty2 Can you give us an approximate year - or even decade - when he was born? My great grandfathers were born in the 1840s, but yours may have been born in the 20th century. We need a timeframe to know what might be available.
For the record - birth registration in Ireland started in 1864. Before that time, it would be a baptismal record, not a birth record.

@CarolFlaherty2 If you can give a bit more information that would be helpful. @Hayter David is from Northern Ireland and is really great at research in that area and can give you some places to research.

No mention of a father type figure. Was he illegitimate? Had his father died? Being Belfast church records would be quite good as opposed to a small parish church in the country. His religion isn't mentioned either - the various parish records are mentioned in the Guide to church records by PRONI- a very useful guide and even better its free. https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/sites/default/files/publications/Guide-to-Church-Records-October-2019.pdf It will tell you what church records are available and where you can access them (usually onsite in PRONI).
So that would be the hard part here- running though the various Belfast Parish records until the date of departure to England. And it has to be done onsite. But if he was born in Belfast his record SHOULD show up. Should, not will.

Passenger manifests that early contain no family information. Since families often immigrated serially, the absence of an adult male with the Maurice surname is not surprising, and I don't think anything should be assumed by that.
