Standardized place for Manchester, England
I have an ancestor that is showing Manchester, England as their death place. It is requesting that I enter a standardized place. I am fairly new to this and can't find the information that I need to update this. Thank you for your help.

Normally it should use a drop-down list (in the browser) to hint what the possibilities are, as soon as you go to update the death details.
If you want to get some more comprehensive info beforehand, then go to
Type "Manchester, England" in the "Search Places" box (add the "England" else you'll be seeing Manchesters from across the world). I'm seeing 6 possibilities - normally you'll want the one labelled as a town, city or (in lieu of those) parish. You'll want the one that's appropriate for the date of death. If you select one of those, you'll see bits from Wikipedia that give you some more details. Now go back to update the death data and choose the suggested one from the drop-down list that seems the best match to the date and type of place - as I said, normally it'll be a town, city, or maybe a parish, that you want. It's unlikely that you'll need any of the other types of Manchester in your case.

Hi Sally Ann,
Thanks for asking this question. The answer from Adrian is very good. Find all the English Manchesters, as he suggested.
The first and last two may be your best choices, depending on the date of the death:
We hope this helps you.
Kind Regards
