Dear All,

I am writing to ask for your help regarding my research. I found the marriage certificate of my ancestors who wed in Pozsony in 1855. In the certificate, there is a town name mentioned in Bohemia which I am unable to locate. I think it might be Koris, but I could be wrong. Have you heard about this town? I also checked some old maps but could not find it. Is there any site where I could find the current name of the town mentioned above? Since I do not know exactly where he was born, I am unable to look for his birth certificate in the right Czech collection.

Thank you very much in advance, kind regards,

Viktoria

Hi, I recommend the GenTeam gazetteer: https://www.genteam.at/index.php?lang=de

You have to register but it's free. FamilySearch has a wiki on how to use it.

It looks like Korit to me; GenTeam's gazetteer says there is/was a place named Koryta with alternate names Korit or Mulden, and indicates that Roman Catholics were recorded in Kostelec nad Orlici (https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/2425067).
