Talofa everyone, was wanting to know if there were any indexing projects for Samoan records? I was hoping if there wasn't one yet, whether it would be possible to start an indexing project for Samoan records.

@talatuala1 talatuala1​ Currently there are not any Samoan projects to index, but you are welcome to go to the indexing page and periodically check if there will be batches available to index: https://www.familysearch.org/indexing/my-indexing. Click on "Find Batches" and you can filter by project, language, ease of projects (I would click all three level of difficulty), least to most complete, newest to oldest, and alphabetically. There might be project available specific to your area that I cannot see, so just follow the link and start searching and see what you can find.

Currently, projects take quite a long time to complete contracts, and digitize the image to prepare for indexing. For now it is best to wait until they become available to index through the Web Indexing page. Good luck! Thank you for being so willing to be of help - it is truly wonderful!

And yes, it's something I've been wanting to do since serving my mission in Samoa not too long ago (but won't say how long😅) and a way I could give back to the people I had served and who served me! I love your willingness to serve with indexing. Would you be interested in helping in this group? Could you suggest some useful techniques for searching for Samoan records? Is this an area where you have some research skills?

I don't mind helping at all. I have spent a bit of time with Samoan Births and Deaths registers so can help anyone who are searching for ancestors in that space if needed.
