Can I order a badge as a Family history consultant?
How do I order badges for our ward Family History Consultants?

Unfortunately you cannot order badges for ward consultants. Badges are worn by full time missionaries and those individuals who are service missionaries. Those who serve as FamilySearch missionaries wear badges but not ward consultants. The difference being Ward consultants are called by the Bishop but FamilySearch missionaries are called by the Stake President.

We were permitted to buy name badges locally that just had “Temple and Family History Consultants”, and the consultants name. We were told we couldn’t use the Family Search logo. This was before the centers were named “Family Search Center”. I want to have more made for new consultants, but I would have to find out if we can use the words, “Temple and Family Search Consultant “.

@mitchellcolinian1 See this from the FamilySearch Center Operations Guide, 2023: https://www.familysearch.org/en/fieldops/article/familysearch-center-operations-guide-2023

Dress Standards
You should ensure that staff are appropriately dressed and well-groomed while serving in the center. Name tags may be purchased using center or stake budget funds. You may not use Church or FamilySearch logos on locally made name tags.

I would suggest not going out and spending money on locally produced badges just yet. I have strong reason to believe we'll all (FSC staff) be able to order the same badges that are used in the very large Centers and the FS Library in the near future. I wish I could share more - just stand by would be my strong suggestion before spending any money on badges without the official logo.
