Hello. My name is Dee Dee. I am a retired RN and a Vietnam Era Veteran. I live in Virginia Beach, VA. I have been working with my sister to do Family Ancestry research for about 3 years. We split our ancestors to research. I took VA ancestors and she took NC.
I have made a lot of progress. But I have hit a brick wall trying to connect a List of about 30 Virginia Barbers to my 5th Great Grandmother, Elizabeth Barber, born in 1790, Hyde County NC. I am particularly interested in William Barber #2, who was born in 1745 and is on the list of 30 Barbers. William #2 fought in the Revolutionary War. This war is a special interest of mine.

I found Mother Elizabeth Barber G2TW-CG8 born 1790 Hyde, North Carolina. Husband: Father Jeremiah Chance G2TW-N47 born Hyde, North Carolina 1790-186; Children: Mother Elizabeth Chance G2TW-4F2 born: Hyde, North Carolina 1817 - 1912 on FamilySearch.com. I found a lot of William Barber's in the Revolutionary War records of Ancestry.com but not with the birth date of 174 but most of them don't give a birth date, just the date of service.

Thanks for the Barber information. As I mentioned Elizabeth is my 5th Great Grandmother. I am trying to trace about 15 people we think are related to Elizabeth. All 15 on the list were Free Afro Americans. The list included William 2 Barber. I have been able to gain information about William 2 & his service in the Revolutionary War. William 2 was born in 1745. He served in the Revolutionary War as a private in the 3rd North Carolina Regiment. He filed a pension application on January 2, 1833. His age is listed on his pension application is 87 years old.
I am trying to link William and Elizabeth and have been unsuccessful. Should I start with trying to link someone on the list born latter?

It is always best to start with the known ancestor and then go back. If you know William and Elizabeth's descendants start there.

Thank you all. My name is Nita. I've been researching since 2013. I started my search looking for my Mother's place of rest, which I found. I grew up without a father, and never thought about him, until my middle age. I had a name of who he is, which my aunt provided me years ago. So my attention now, is toward, find my father. Which I found him deceased now. I enjoy building my family tree and finding what I have so far.
I'm now looking for my GGFather which I found in the 1950 Census. Now I looking for his Place of rest. I know that I haven't told you all who I am, except that I'm a Caring, helpful person who is not afraid to ask questions or even ask for help if I need it.
