Help with the occupation for the father of the bride.
Could someone help me with his occupation? I know it is ____macher but the more I look at it, the less I can figure out. Thanks for each of you that help out here.
And, I know the quality of the image is poor but that is all I have.

The copy is in fact unreadable. The only possibility is to find the original film or document. From which parish/location and which year is the record?

Addendum: I found the record (or a copy of it) in the Stadtarchiv Hürth (https://www.huerth.de/digitales-archiv.php). The record continues overleaf; the records from that area and time are very wordy...
The occupation of the bride's father Martin Engels is given as Achsenmacher (literally axle maker), a craftsman making and repairing the wooden parts of carriages.

Thanks so much. Can I search the Hürth archive myself? I have been to the page you referenced but I only see the links to the indexes for the various years.
I would love to look there when I find an image I can't make out but I think I don't understand the search mechanism on the Hürth archive.
Would it be possible for you to explain how you found this image?
Thank you for your input and insight!

- On the page for the Stadtarchiv Hürth (https://www.huerth.de/digitales-archiv.php) click on "Digitaler Lesesaal" with the grey background. This brings you to a page entitled ACTApro.
- On this page you need to register (for free) by clicking on "Registration" in the top right.
- Then enter your choosen username and password on the login page.
- Now you can go to the "Archive" tab and open "Stadtarchiv Hürth" -> 2. Amts- und Protokollbücher -> 2.26 Zivilstandsregister
- Open the register you want to look at, e.g. "Geburtsregister", and select the year. In the description that opens click on the crossed area ("Vorschaubild nicht verfügbar...") and the films of the records will be shown as pdf file.

Thank you so much for the detailed directions. Being able to view these images online will be such a big help in my research.
I had registered and tried to maneuver to find the civil registration records in the past but didn't manage to find them then. With your help, I've successfully accessed the images.
A thank you seems hardly adequate for the joy I feel now that I can go directly to the archive to view clear, crisp images. 😍
