Orphanages in Telemark
I have a patron at our FSC that was adopted from Norway. Her adoptive grandparents were from Arendal but had migrated to the US. When their daughter was unable to have children, they suggested she adopt a Norwegian child. My patron was born in Kragero in 1951. Her mother said she was adopted from an orphanage. Her family did have a summer home in Arendal. My patron assumes the orphanage was in Telemark. She is trying to find information on her birth family and was told that the orphanages burnt down. We know there has to be some type of other record that can help her.
Can anyone shed some light on how we can proceed?
