Looking for Welsh Y-DNA participants!
Hi, we have a number of US Webbs (30+) in the Webb Surname Y-DNA project who are possibly descended from Maenarch ap Dryffin and, more recently, our Colonial Ancestor John Webb (d. 1726 in Virginia). We're looking to add to our group with testers from Wales! We're a pretty active group with more than 10 of us having taken Big-Y and more are in-progress. Many of us have also contributed funds through FamilyTreeDNA (we're not affiliated) to help reduce the cost for our testers. Many of our more distant branches who have taken Big-Y have Welsh origins believed to be near Breconshire. However, we have a several hundred year gap between Maenarch and our Colonial immigrant. So, we're looking for local male Webbs (former Breconshire and surrounding areas) who would like to uncover their roots and help us solve our decades old brick-wall of where our group came from by getting Y-DNA! I can't give an exact number, but the group has been very generous in getting donations as needed to help reduce the cost and have people test and we'd give serious consideration to doing so here (through FamilyTreeDNA). We'd ask to start with Y-37, but Y-111 or Big-Y are welcome! There are also usually sales near Father's Day as well as later in the year. Can you help us??
Thanks!
Patrick
