Can anyone help me to find birth/death/marriage records from Irig (Ürög)? I am looking for Jozsef Gombar (-1914) and Anna Serletics (wife).

Dvorzsák's gazetteer indicates that Roman Catholics from both Magyar-Ürög and Német-Ürög in Baranya county were recorded in Német-Ürög, which was also known as Ráczváros. Both villages have now been absorbed into the city of Pécs. I have found no evidence of either place ever being called "Irig", however. The closest I can get to "Irig" is Felső-Ireg in Tolna county, which had both a Roman Catholic and a Reformed church locally. (It has now been combined with a nearby village into Iregszemcse.)

(Phonetically, Ürög and Ireg are closely related: one is a rounded-vowels version of the other. They're also semantically related: both placenames derive from üreg "void, hollow, recess".)

The church registers for Németürög/Ráczváros are found in the FS catalog under Pécs - Rácváros (https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/427383). I can find no trace of your József and Anna in the indexes, however.

Felsőireg RC (https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/436881) and Reformed (https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/5373) registers are also on FS, but I can find no trace of your people in their indexes, either.
